Suzanne Bernhard was born on Sept. 24, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Pa. She was the youngest of three children born to Otto and Mabel Bernhard. She married Arthur Herring after graduating from Indiana University.
A loving mother, Suzanne Herring was a longtime volunteer in Bedford. She began her volunteer service at the Bedford library in the '70s. She began volunteering at the Bedford Senior Center in 1982, where she served on the senior board. Every Wednesday she volunteered at the Bedford Police Department. She was an active member of the Trinity Valley Quilt Guild, quilted with friends at the Bedford Senior Center, and traveled with the Quilt Sisters. Suzanne was also an active member of First United Methodist Church in Hurst.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Herring; her parents; her brothers, Warren and Frank Bernhard; and sister-in-law, Jan Bernhard.
Survivors: She is survived by son, John and Brenda Herring of Hurst; daughter, Mary Beth and Russ Granzow of Oak Leaf; grandchildren, Melanie and Jimmy Granzow; sister-in-law, Barbara Bernhard of St. Louis, Mo.
