Blackwood, William T.
William T. Blackwood, age 74, passed away in a Mineola, Texas hospital December 4 at 5:45 p.m. He had been living with his daughter, Mrs. E.S. Long in Mineola during recent illness of six month immediately prior to his death.
Mr. Blackwood was born on Jan. 8, 1873, in Friendship, La. He moved to Rosenberg from Friendship, La., in 1912 and established a farm on the prairie. He was connected with local branch of Federal Land Bank for a number of years, also with the Farmers Gin Company.
Deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Willie D. Long of Mineola and Mrs. Sara Heath of Springfield, Mass; two sons, Herman W. Blackwood, of Fort Worth and James C. Blackwood of Longview; two sisters, Mrs. J.F. Frey of Minden, Ia. and Mrs. W.O. Jones of Alexandria, La.; one brother, R. Blackwood of Mart; also twelve grandchildren. Mr. Blackwood's wife preceded him in death.
Funeral services for Mr. Blackwood were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7 at 2:00 p.m. from the First Methodist Church in Rosenberg with Rev. M.M. Davis, local pastor, officiating. Burial was in the W.O.W. Cemetery.
Pallbearers were D.L. Lowe, S.O. Morrow, L.F. Houston, Geo. G. Roane, Chas. Waddell, and Fred Schawe. Funeral services were under the direction of the Foerster Funeral Home.
