MRS. SARAH CONNER
Sarah Marshall, daughter of John and Margaret Marshall, was born in Cass county, Indiana, May 22, 1850, and died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Cragin, at Logansport, Indiana, November 29, 1924, being at the time of her death 74 years, 6 months and 10 days of age.
On September 2, 1869, deceased was married to Wm. H. Conner at Logansport, Indiana. Four children were born to this union, three of whom, John Henry, of Ames, Iowa; Charley E., of Derby, Iowa, and Margaret Sydebotham, of Iowa City, Iowa, survive. Bruce Wm. Conner, of Derby, Iowa, the fourth child being called to his heavenly home on July 26, 1906.
Thirteen grandchildren, all surviving, mourn the loss of their grandmother. Her husband, Wm. H. Conner, preceded her to the better world on Feb. 24, 1918.
In 1907, Mrs. Conner was converted and united with the Presbyterian church of this city. Mrs. Conner was a great student and a lover of good literature. She kept abreast of the times and read incessantly. She was especially fond of poetry.
A splendid, intelligent and capable woman has left our midst. This church community and hosts of neighbors and friends extend sympathy to the bereaved and sorrowing family.
The last few months of Mrs. Conner's life she depended almost entirely upon the care of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Sydebotham, of Iowa City, who accompanied her mother on her visit to her sister in Indiana, and was with her constantly. As she sank into the coma of death, Mrs. Conner called "Maggie" then she fell asleep.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church on Wednesday afternoon, December 3, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Proran, and prayer by Rev. Channell. Interment was made in the Derby cemetery.
