From obit:"-Born in Mercer Co,Ky Dec 6,1824. Was a son of Cornelius Smock who
survives him at the age of 83 yrs.He came with his parents in 1829,settling
near Greenwood.10 yrs later he moved to Putnamville. Moved to Greencastle 1853
where he was agent for the LNA & C Railway Co then agent for Adams Express Co.
Later was secretary/treasurer of the Nail factory and Rolling Mill. He owned a small grocery store in Indpls and was a clerk in Anderson Herald office. He had
retired to Greencastle in 1882 and was employed by Allison & Wysong when he died"
