Indianapolis Star - Monday, December 7, 1959:

Mrs. Genevieve Bassel Sweeney, 82 years old, a former resident of Indianapolis, died yesterday at Washington, D.C. Mrs. Sweeney was born at Clarksburg, West Virginia. She played a key role in the formation of the Indianapolis Chapter of the American Red Cross in 1916 and was particularly active during World War I. At one time, Mrs. Sweeney owned and operated the Brown Barn Shop in the rear of her former residence, 1441 North Talbot Avenue. She was a honorary member of the Indianapolis Dramatic Club. She moved to Washington in 1944 after her marriage to Thomas Bell Sweeney, who died in 1957.

Funeral services will be in St. John's Episcopal Church at Washington at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in Trinity Episcopal Church here. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
