Rita Birchard Sigman 75, Indianapolis, passed away March 29, 2005. Mrs. Sigman was born on September 12, 1929 in Hazleton, Iowa, the daughter of the late Gordon M. and Gertrude (Michels) Birchard. She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. In addition, she was a life member of St. Margaret's Hospital Guild and a member of St. Vincent Hospital Guild. Mrs. Sigman was a Registered Nurse and a graduate of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Dubuque, Iowa. Survivors include her husband, William A. Sigman; children, Lynn S. (C. Richard) Bohr, Allan W. (Karen) Sigman, and Christine S. (Sean) Clayton; four grandchildren, Richard and Carrie Bohr, Jack W. Sigman, and Charlotte Clayton; siblings, Sister Genevieve Birchard, SM, Lucille (Robert) Miller, Harold (Beverly) Birchard, Leo (JoAnn) Birchard, Barbara (Earl) Lewis, and Robert (Edith) Birchard. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Jason Birchard and Doris Megonigle. Friends and family will gather on Thursday (TODAY) from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Leppert Life Story Funeral Home, Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Luke Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 2345 W. 86th. Indianapolis, IN 46260 or 32nd Masonic Learning Center for Children, 650 N. Meridian St. Indianapolis, IN 46204.
