MRS. AUGUSTUS KIEFER DIES AT THE FAMILY HOME
Trip to Atlantic City Fails to Restore Health Funeral Will Be Private.

Mrs. Martha S. Kiefer, wife of Augustus Kiefer, died at 6 a.m. today at the family home on North Meridian Street. She had been sick for a little more than three months. Last September, she went to Atlantic City, New Jersey, hoping that a change of air would benefit her. At that place she underwent a surgical operation and, failing to receive the anticipated change for the better, returned to her home a month ago.

Besides her husband, she Is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charles Mayer; three grandchildren, Charles Mayer, Jr., Augustus Kiefer Mayer and Edward L. Mayer; and a sister, Mrs. Amanda Armentraut, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

She was a daughter of the Rev. Joseph Shipp, an early preacher of the Methodist church, and was born at Frankfort, this state, February 13, 1838. On March 28, 1861, she was married to Augustus Kiefer, then a retail druggist at Franklin, and removed to this city, which has since been her home, in 1863.

She was a member of the Tabernacle Presbyterian church, of a beautiful, placid, kindly manner, always thoughtful of the well-being of others, doing her duty as she found it, and with special tenderness to the poor and suffering.

The funeral services, which will be held at the family home, at 2 p. m. Thursday, will be private. They will be conducted by the Rev. Niel McPherson. Burial at Crown Hill cemetery.
