Christian Minister Held Pastorates in Central Illinois
The Rev. Ernest Reed, 78, a minister of the Christian Church who held pastorates in several central Illinois towns, died at 7 a.m. today in his home at 1305 N. Walnut Grove Ave.
The Rev. Mr. Reed, who had been ill several years, also had operated a grocery at 1004 W. Grand Ave.
He served churches in Bethany, Kinmundy, Keithsburg, Mason, Buffalo and Tower Hill.
He attended Moody Bible Institute, Illinois Wesleyan University and a college in Oklahoma.
The Rev. Mr. Reed, was born Aug. 19, 1881, in Kidley, Ill., a son of George and Arabelle Mott Reed and was married to Ellen Deffenbaugh Dec. 29, 1929 in Decatur.
He leaves his wife and two sisters, Mrs. Nora Baker, Weldon, and Mrs. Grace Morales, Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home where friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery, Blue Mound. [The Decatur Review, Sat. 21 May 1960, p. 14]

Funeral services for the Rev. Ernest Reed, 78, will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery, Blue Mound. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. today.
