Milton was in the third lap of a twenty lap midget feature when he was involved in a spectacular three car crash on the quarter mile track in Albuquerque. After many spectacular skids he finally lost control of his racer on the north turn and spun his little blue midget. Mickey Wysong and Clarence Massey bore down on him unable to see him even in spite of the warnings of other drivers. Milton's car flew in the air, landing upside down.
His funeral was held at the old Meldrum Mortuary with burial in the Mesa, Arizona city cemetery on January 30, 1947
