Adney R. Chambers of Gatesville died July 30 at the age of 77.
Graveside services were held Saturday at Restland Cemetery with the Rev. James Boling officiating.
Mr. Chambers was born Dec. 13, 1921, in Pidcoke to Viola Melissa Fields Chambers and the late John Earvin Chambers. He attended school in Waco.
He enlisted in the United States Army on Oct. 19, 1940, at Fort Sam Houston, and was discharged on Jan. 10, 1946.
He worked for civil service at Fort Hood for 33 years until his retirement in 1978.
He was a member of the Gatesville Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Chambers; sister, Evalee Chambers; and brother, Lloyd Chambers.
Survivors include his mother, Viola Melissa Chambers of Gatesville; one daughter, June Chambers of Gatesville; step-daughter, Beverly McConnell of Temple; a son, Adney R. Chambers Jr. of Holland; step-sons, Steven Baldwin, Utah Baldwin, John Baldwin and Harold Baldwin, all of Brownwood; sisters, Bernice Weathermon of Belton, Sherry Passamano of Grand Prairie and Bonnie Harrington of Gatesville; many grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
