ARTIS, David W. age 73 of South Solon, passed away Friday December 25,2009. David was born, March 6,1936 in Catawba, Ohio, the son of the late Willis & Helen (Hunter) Artis. He served in the us Army from 1955-1958 & was a farm hand for Avalon Farms. David was a member of the South Solon Church of Christian Fellowship, where he was a deacon & trustee. He was active with the Springfield Y.M.C.A. & loved bowling. He also enjoyed his grandchildren & their sports. David was preceded in death by his son Paul Artis, (2001) & sister Isadora Boggs. Survivors include his wife Lois, of 51 years. Daughter Jackie (Walter) Perry, Montgomery, Alabama, & daughter-in-law Kim Artis, South Charleston. Grandchildren, Tabatha, Patrick & Nikita Perry, and Nicole, & Stephanie Parkinson, Cody Artis. 4 great-grandsons. Sister Eunice Rebert, Springfield, Ohio. Numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. A gathering of family & friends will be held from 5-8 p.m., Monday in the Ingling Williams Funeral Home, 24 N. Chillicothe St., South Charleston, where services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday from the funeral home, with Pastor John Crutchfield, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family request contributions be made in Davids memory to the Americah American Heart Association or to the South Solon Church in Christian Fellowship.
