S. P. Smith, aged 72 years died at his home near Boston, this county, August 19, 1925, after an illness of something over a year of dropsy. Death came instantly from heart failure. He fell dead on the porch.

Uncle Simon as he was generally known, was born and raised in Madison county and was a highly respected citizen and had lived a consistent Christian life for some fifty years. His walk in life with his fellow men always proved straight. He was indeed a father at home and a friend to all abroad. His presence will be greatly missed here, but we know his joy is great in the home above.

The deceased is survived by his wife and fourteen children, eight sons and six daughters, all of whom are living and nine of whom were present at the funeral.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wm. Evans and Rev. Collins and the remains were laid to rest in the Boston cemetery.

The names of the children are as follows; Madames Maudie Hammons, Nona Clark, and Ada Townsley, and J. B., Loyd, Kermit and Melvin Smith of near Boston, Ark., L. A. Smith of St. Paul; Floyd Smith of Slick, Okla.; S. A. Smith of Shamrock, Okla.; Madames Susie Holland, Melissa Holland, Mary Yingst of Stroud, Okla.; Mrs. Ora Walker of Temple, Tex.; Perle Smith of Pettigrew, Ark.
