3 dead in Christmas Eve blizzard

It was sleeting when three people were killed when a Hummer hit their sedan about noon Thursday on Oklahoma 51 less than half a mile west of Oklahoma 97 in Sand Springs.

The eastbound Hummer H2, driven by Steven W. Jameson, 20, of Tulsa, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a Chevrolet Cobalt, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Michael L. Mulanax, 42; Angela M. Mulanax, 41; and James M.W. Mulanax, 18, all of Sand Springs, were in the Cobalt and were all pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

Jameson was treated for minor injuries at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa and was released, the OHP reported.

Jameson told troopers that he had looked at his dog in the Hummer's back seat and that when he turned around, he had crossed into the westbound lane, where he struck the Mulanaxes' car head-on, according to an OHP report.
