Mrs Kumpf was born in Tripoli, Iowa, on January 1, 1882, a daughter of Mr and Mrs C F Schwemm. She was confirmed in St Paul Lutheran church at Tripoli in 1901 and was married to Rev Kumpf on May 14, 1913 when he was pastor of a Lutheran church at Oconto Falls, Wisconsin. They lived there until 1918, when Rev Kumpf became pastor of the church at Luana. They moved to State Center in February of this year, when Rev Kump succeeded Rev A H Schultz, pastor of St Paul's.
Besides her husband, Mrs Kumpf is survived by one son, Harold, who is now a student in Wartburg Seminary; her father who still lives at Tripoli and a sister, Mrs Jack Wachtel of near Cedar Rapids.
The funeral services were held at 1:30 Tuesday at St Paul's Lutheran church, preceded by a prayer service at the parsonage at 1:00 o'clock. Burial was in Hillside cemetery.
Prof S F Salzmann of Wartburg Seminary, Dubuque,conducted the services assisted by Rev E A Biederman of Des Moines.
