SHELBY - Mrs. Frances Mills Beheler, 87, formerly of 104 Valentine Drive, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Century Care of Cherryville.
Mrs. Beheler was born on Feb. 25, 1921, in Laurens County, S.C., daughter of the late Robert and Julia Smith Mills. Mrs. Beheler joined Eastside Baptist Church in the late 1930s. She served on the 75th Anniversary committee of the church. She and her husband were recognized as "The Fans of the Year" by the Eastside Recreation Department for their support of the softball team. She was once active in the Adult Choir, Sunday school secretary and a member of the Hillary Padgett Mission Group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Irving Mills; three sisters, Blanche Mills Abercrombie, Bobbie Mills Bagwell and Maude Mills Sprouse; and son-in-law, Ronald Eugene Detter.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, John William Beheler; her daughter, Monica Beheler Detter; grandson, James Randall Detter; sister, Virginia Mills Pruett, all of Shelby; nephew, Fred Goode Mills of Raleigh; and niece, Nancy Bagwell Wrenn of Columbia, S.C.
The family would like to thank the management and staff of Century Care of Cherryville for their love and care. A special thank you to Elisa Matheney and Judy Jackson for their love, concern and patience during my mother's illness and death.
Funeral: Saturday, Feb. 14, 2 p.m., Eastside Baptist Church
Visitation: The family will receive friends Saturday, 12:30 to 2 p.m., at the church and other times at the home of the daughter, 801 Kings Rd., Shelby.
Burial: Cleveland Memorial Park
