Minnie Todd Bowers
Minnie Todd Bowers, 90, of 116 Pearl Street, died Sunday at Mercy Hospital, where she had been a patient, for the past three weeks.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Beckman - Butherus Funeral Home, where friends may call after 2 p.m. today. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions are being accepted to the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Bowers was born Nov. 22, 1883 in Louisa County, the daughter of Austin and Mary Tyndall Hendrickson. She grew up in Louisa County and married Samuel E. Todd in August of 1900. The couple moved to Iowa City in 1923, and he died in 1949.
In 1955, she was married to William H. Bowers in Iowa City. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Iowa City Rebekah Lodge 376, and the Golden Age Club.
Survivors include three sons, Stacy M. Todd of Muscatine; Roy 0. Todd of Iowa City, and Robert S. Todd of Los Alamitos, Calif.: two daughters, Mrs. Lee (Estelle) Wieder of Iowa City and Mary Elva Todd of New York City; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Lettia Owens of Durango, Colo.
Mr. Bowers preceded her in death, as did a daughter and five brothers.
