He retired as a superintendant of the Cutler-Magner CLM Corporation in 1974 after 28 years of service. Mr Ford served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Superior and served as a church elder. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #71 of West Duluth, the labor union affiliated with Cutler-Magner, and an honorary member to the Big Bertha Boys.
His wife, Mary, died in 1995.
Surviving are two sons, Richard (Julie), Superior, and William "Bill" (Judy), Poplar; two daughters, Mary (Leonard) Susmilch, Downers Grove, IL, and Faith (Ernest) Pittsley, Superior; eight grandchildren, Heather Emmel, Heidi, Angela and Kelley Ford, David and Tami Susmilch, and Jesse and Halley Pittsley; two sisters, Louise Timmons, Spring Grove, IL, and Bernice Tharge, Superior; and several nieces and nephews.
Interment to be in Greenwood cemetery.
