Services in honor of her life are 11 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 23), at the Templeton Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Shrader officiating. Burial is in Embarrass Cemetery, near Redmon. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. McDaniel was born Sept. 22, 1928, at Redmon, the daughter of the late Guy C. Brown and Gladys Swinford Brown. She married Charles McDaniel Jr. on Feb. 24, 1945, and he survives.
She is also survived by two sons, Terry (Carol) McDaniel and John (Molly) McDaniel, all of Southern Pines, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Janet McDaniel of Leesburg, Fla.; a sister, Norma Jean Laughead of Paris; seven grandchildren, Teresa (Mike) Watters of Hillsboro, Tim (Sharon) McDaniel of Paris, Bryan McDaniel of Chicago, Laura and Lindsey McDaniel, both of Durham, N.C., Elizabeth (Barry) Minto of Cotgrave, England, and Katy (Matt) Hoyt of Milford, Conn.; seven great-grandchildren, Paige (David) Meyers of Taylor Springs, Bailey and Carrigan Watters, both of Hillsboro, Logan McDaniel of Paris, Josh and Lewis Minto both of Cotgrave, England, and Jack Hoyt of Milford, Conn.; and one great-granddaughter, Aubrey Meyers of Taylor Springs. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry "Shiloh" McDaniel; a brother, Eli Brown; a sister, Wanda Young; and a great-granddaughter, Holly Watters.
Mrs. McDaniel took an active roll helping her husband farm until his retirement. During the late 60s and early 70s, she ran a ceramics business out of her home. In the 80s, she and her husband participated in operating Paris Livestock Sales.
She enjoyed driving a horse and buggy in parades throughout Illinois and Indiana, was an avid collector of antiques, an accomplished quilt maker, and a devoted grandmother.
