Note: Date on headstone is probably wrong. His death certificate states that his death occurred on 28 July 1921 in Clarke County, Mississippi. Also he is listed on the 1920 census.

Charles Franklin Ivy was the eighth child of Andrew Jackson Ivy and Jane Harman who were married 9 Oct 1837 in Sumter County, AL and he for sure was born after 1850 in Alabama, most likely in Choctaw County where the family was enumerated in the 1850 US Census (without Charles Franklin yet). The family remained in Choctaw County until about 1859 when they moved to Jasper County, Mississippi where their last child, Elizabeth was born just prior to the 1860 census. The year of birth on his grave marker is in error by +10 years (looks like the monument company slipped a 10's digit). According to 1860, 1870 and 1880 Census records, he was born in either 1855 or 1856. However, the 1900 census shows he was born Jan 1853 which is more in line with the fact there were three other siblings born after him and all by 1860.

He was married twice.

He was married first to Jane Peterson on 28 August 1873 in Clarke County, MS. They had 4 children at the time they were enumerated in the 1880 Census. It is not known if she died or if they divorced. Their known children were:

1) Nancy Jane (b. 1874)
2) Susan Ella (b. 1876)
3) Amanda E. (b. 1877)
4) George F. (b. 1879)

Charles Franklin "Frank" Ivey married second to Sarah Emma Vinson on 9 Oct 1887 in Clarke County, MS. She was the 32 year old daughter of his Clarke County neighbor, Nathan Vinson and Abigale Rape. This was Sarah Emma's first marriage. She and Frank had four children together:

1) Charlie L. (b. 11 Feb 1889)
2) Florence A. (b. 8 Oct 1891)
3) Amos N. (b. 5 Mar 1895)
4) Evy R. (b. 2 Aug 1897)
