Allan was born Nov. 23, 1919 in St. Vincent, MN in Kittson County. He was the son of William G. and Christie Ahles of St. Vincent, MN. He had one sister Kathryn Harper. He graduated from high school in 1937 and worked in the general store of his parents until he entered the Army in Oct of 1942. He went overseas in April of 1944 and served with the 91st Infantry Division, as part of the 5th Army in Italy. He was discharged in Nov. 1945.
He was married to Alice Swenson of Lake Bronson on June 9, 1943. They lived in the Staples-Motley area for 37 years and moved to St. Louis Park in 1989. He was active in the VFW and Lion's Club, as well as the Wooddale Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by a son Brian Paul in 1974. He is survived by wife of 66 years Alice; son Loren of Mpls.; two grandsons Ben Ahles of Boston and Graeme Ahles of Olympia, WA; nephew William Harper of Winnipeg, Manitoba; niece Sandra Hermensen of Edmonton, Alberta.
