Obituary
Mrs. Laura Parker Dies at Local Hospital Dec 25
Mrs. Laura Ione Parker, well known Dallas woman passed away Dec 25, at 2:30 P.M. at Paulding Memorial Hospital at the age of 77. She had been ill for five weeks and had sustained a fractured hip in a fall at her home several weeks prior to death.
A life time resident of Paulding County, she was born August 8, 1888, the daughter of the late William Akins and Lucinda Cheek Akins. She was married for 55 years to Mr. John W. Parker, who survives.
Mrs. Parker had been employed as a textile worker before retirement. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Palmer, of Dallas and Mrs. A. C. Porter, of Hiram; a son, Mr. W. W. Parker, of Dallas; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Dec 27, at 2;30 P.M. at the Second Baptist Church, with the Rev. B.L. Patrick and the Rev. C.R. Campbell officiating. Burial was at the Bethany cemetery with the Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Messrs. James F. Rutherford, Ernest A. Palmer, Donald Porter, Gary Hendrix, Charles Porter and Herman as active pall bearers.
