HAMMONDSVILLE - William S. "Uncle Bill" Martin, 62, of Hammondsville, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at East Liverpool City Hospital.
He was born Jan. 11, 1947, in Steubenville, the son of the late John and Wilda (LeMasters) Martin.
Bill graduated from Jefferson Union High School in 1965 and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam where he received several medals, including a Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a concrete finisher for M & A Concrete. Bill was a member of American Legion Post 70 and VFW Post 5647 in Wellsville. His hobbies included mechanical work on cars and tractors.
Survivors include one daughter, LaDonna Martin of East Liverpool; one son, William Alvin Martin of East Liverpool; one sister, Nancy Cornell of Ravenna; one brother, Jim Martin and his wife Brenda of Nashville, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Brandy and Kylee Vantilburg; and one grandson, Jacob Vantilburg, all of East Liverpool.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Anne Rice.
