Capt.John Sears will be long remembered on Cape Cod in connection with his invention of the process of making salt by solar evaporation.

He married, Dec 26,1771 at Yarmouth, Phebe Sears, daughter of Daniel Sears and Mercy Snow Sears. Phebe died in January 1818.

Children: Olive Sears Berry, Deborah Sears, Daniel Sears, Heman Sears, Jerusha Sears Howes, Enos Sears, Lavinia Sears, Moody Sears, and Fanny Sears.
