JOSEPH ANDREW BOONE, SR., age 80, died at 8 a.m. Sunday at his residence on Route 1, New Haven. He had been in declining health the past several months. A native of Nelson County, he was a retired farmer and sawmill operator. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Annie Hagan; three sons, Bernard and Joseph Andrew (J.A.) Boone of Route 1, New Haven, and Lawrence Boone of Louisville; three daughters, Mrs. Pauline Gootee, Springfield; Mrs. Rose Ann Mattingly of Louisville, and Helen Boone of Paoli, Ind.; 27 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Nick Boone, New Haven, and two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Bowling of Louisville and Sister Rose Ann Boone, OSU, of Owensboro. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday with a con-celebrated Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Culverton. The Rev. George Craycroft, pastor, was chief celebrant. Con-celebrants were the Rt. Rev. Timothy Kelly, Abbot of the Abbey of Gethsemane, and the Rev. Felix Donahue, also of the Abbey of Gethsemane. Burial was in St. Catherine Cemetery, New Haven. Pallbearers were Tommy Boone, Jeff and Kevin Boone, Todd and Larry Boone, Frankie Gootee, Harold Gootee and Rick Boone. Honorary bearers were Steve Dalton, Neal Boone and Tommy Gootee. Prayers were recited Monday evening at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home, New Haven.
