LANESBOROUGH - Frances E. Connors, 87, a resident of Lanesborough since 1955, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 5, 1921, the daughter of Leigh F. and Helen A. Kilmer Blaney, she was educated in Pittsfield, graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1939, and was a graduate of the former Berkshire Business College .
Mrs. Connors was employed as a secretary with General Electric Company for many years where she worked in the Power Transformer Department, Main Plant Payroll, and in field documentation for the Ordnance Systems Division. She retired in 1983.
She was a communicant of the former North American Martyrs Church and then a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire.
Frances was known for her great love of all things chocolate. She also enjoyed weekend drives with her husband, Marty, throughout New England in search of antiques and collectibles, as well as her annual visits to Maine.
Her husband, Martin H. Connors, whom she married Aug. 1, 1953, at St. Charles Church in Pittsfield, died Oct. 18, 1993.
Mrs. Connors leaves several cousins along with many friends from North American Martyrs Church and Rosewood In-Home Assist who helped her remain independent and achieve her wish to continue living in her home until she died.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Frances E. Connors will be held Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 10:30 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Charles Church, celebrated by the Rev. David R. Raymond. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Connors may be made to the Lanesborough Ambulance Fund in care of the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
