A separation of more than 34 years ended Sunday morning, May 25, 1997, when Lola and her eternal companion, A.H. Gibbons, were reunited. Lola passed away at the home of her daughter, Barbara Workman, surrounded by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was 91. Lola slipped quietly and peacefully away at 11 a.m.

Andrew and Lola were married in Safford, AZ, in 1925 and later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are parents of seven children, and also the grateful progenitors of 44 grandchildren and 74 great grandchildren. Their children are Andrew H., Jr., Logan, Utah; Eileen (Ferrell) Kump, St. Joseph, MO; Harry Leon (Marge), Salt Lake City, UT; Lola Barbara (Dan) Workman, Orem, UT; Nanette (Joe) Nelson, Logan, UT; Larry Wayne (LaDawn) Dallas, TX; and Ted Lee (Lydia), Orem, UT. She is also survived by two sisters, Violet Jones and Charlotte Young, Kanab, UT; and three brothers: Israel C. Heaton and Alma Heaton, Provo, UT; and LeRoy Heaton, Orem, UT.

Lola was born in Orderville, UT, January 15, 1906, to Charlotte Cox and Israel Hoyt Heaton, the third of ten children. She and Andrew moved to Logan in 1930 where Andrew completed his master's degree at Utah State Agricultural College, now USU. They lived in Logan for many years. Andrew passed away in 1963, and Lola remained in Logan until her full-time mission in Florida in 1976-7. Upon her return she moved to Centerville, UT where she lived with her daughter Barbara until her marriage to Robert L. (Lonnie) Paul in 1982 when she returned to Logan. Lonnie died in 1986. Lola lived alone in Logan until the loss of her sight and other complications of age made it necessary for her to move to Orem where she has been living with her daughter, Barbara and son, Ted.

After she was widowed, she was an officiator in the Logan, Ogden, Salt Lake LDS Temples for approximately 18 years. She served as ward and stake Relief Society president and in many other callings in the church. Her entire life reflected her commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ and to her family. She provided an enormous blessing to her posterity by preparing extensive histories of her ancestors.

In the final years of her life, and even after the loss of her sight, she continued to teach her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to read, and she crocheted 101 afghans for many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 28, 1997, at 10 a.m. in the Park 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 750 West Center, Orem. Friends may call Tuesday, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, and 9 to 9:45 prior to services. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Logan City Cemetery.
