Billie Marie Alexander, 85, formerly of Lower Paxton Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Asbury Heights in Pittsburgh.

Born July 20, 1924 in Abilene, Texas, she was the daughter of Almoth Othella Gist and Frieda (Gough) Gist Reed.

Billie was a 1946 graduate of Texas State College for Women

She was an active member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization Sisterhood.

Billie was a faithful choir member and Elder in the Pine Street Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed creative activities like sewing, crocheting, gardening, and genealogy.

Billie was a docent at the Governor's Mansion.

She was a school teacher and followed her husband to Air Force assignments around the world before retiring to Harrisburg.

Billie was predeceased by her beloved husband of sixty years: Bob E. Alexander of Lower Paxton Township; and, her brother: A. O. Gist of Houston, Texas.

She is survived by her two daughters: Judith A. Manion (Arthur) of Mt. Lebanon and Mary Jane Westland (William) of Westboro, Massachusetts; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and, her sisters: Carra Lee Brickell of Mansfield, Massachusetts, and Patsy Watson of San Angelo, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 04, 2010 at 10:00 AM.

Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
