Edward Carl Anderson, Jr., Known as Carl, was a son of Edward Carl Anderson, Sr. of Lenoir and the late Wilhemina Rockett Anderson.
Carl was a gifted musician.He graduated from Lenoir High School in 1955, after having been a member of the Lenoir High School Band under instructor Captain Harper. He went to Mars Hill College and from there he went to George Peabody College for teachers in Nashville, Tennessee He graduated from Peabody in 1961 with a B.S. in Instrumental Music majoring in both in voice and bassoon.
Carl was a bassoonist with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and tenor soloist at the West End Methodist Church. From 1961 until 1964 he was a member of the United States Army Field Band. He traveled all over the United States, Canada and Mexico; and performed at three World Fairs.
Carl was an employee of Anderson Truck Line, Inc. In 1965 he became secretary and treasurer of that firm; in 1971, executive vice-president; in 1976 became president and retired from this company in 2000.
Carl's accomplishments are many: He served as president of the Caldwell Art Guild, Board of Directors of Western Piedmont Symphony, Grand Chancellor of Caldwell Lodge #78, Knights of Pythias, Past Grand Chancellor of the Domain of North Carolina Knights of Pythias, Secretary of Western Carolina Furniture Carriers Association, Assistant Minister of Music at First Baptist Church, Interim Minister of Music at Lower Creek Baptist Church, Board of Director of the Foothills Performing Arts. He was also a member of the Hickory Choral Society for two years.
Carl was a member of the North Carolina Literary & Historical Association, and the North Carolina Genealogical Society, where he was editor of the News-Letter. He was well-known throughout Caldwell County for his genealogical research.
He had many hobbies and interests, but his favorite pastimes were the enjoyment of music and the study of family history and genealogy. He made time for his kin, no matter how distant the relationship.
In addition to his father, survivors include friend, Jerry Zonca; brother, Dan E. Anderson and wife; a nephew, nieces, and many cousins.
