Conrad Lee "Lum" Brown,Sr, age 79, of East Chicago, IN, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 14, 2004.
He is survived by his son, Conrad Jr. (Marie) of Merrillville and daughter Elizabeth of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Ryan (Tosha), Stacey, Nicole and Megan; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Chloe; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years Claradine (nee Boyd), parents, Ellis and Maude (nee Calloway), brothers, Ellis B. Clifford Owen and sister, Mildred.
Conrad was born February 20, 1925 in Ohio, County, Kentucky, and moved to East Chicago, Indiana, in 1955. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hammond. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps WWII, serving in the Philippines and was part of the Occupation Forces in Japan following their surrender. Conrad retired from LTV Steel after 27 years service. He was a 50 year member of East Chicago Lodge #595, F.&A.M. A member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of South Bend and Kentucky Chapter #78 Order of the Eastern Star.
Conrad was a devoted husband, kind father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was loved by all and will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 18th, 1:00 to 7:00 PM, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., (one mile south of Rt. 30), Scherervlle, IN. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 19, 2004 with the Rev. Pete Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN.
