Peacefully lay her down to rest
Place the turf kindly over her breast
Sweet is the slumber beneath the sod
White the pure soul is resting in God.
Close to her lone and narrow bed
Gracefully wave ye willowed bough
Flowers of wildwood your odors shed
Over the holy beautiful dead.
Peaceful sleep, beloved mother
Rest from toil, thy labor is done
Rest 'til trump from opening skies
Bids thee from dust to glory arise.
