Washington Lindsey Coleman of Meade Co., died at his home near Doe Run on Friday of pneumonia. Was born April 26, 1822 and lived in the county all his entire life. Was engaged in the milling business at Doe Run for many years. Married 3 times. He married first Miss Rachel Brown on Oct. 16, 1845. They had 2 children, Robert Wilson and John Richard, both of whom are dead. On Oct. 27, 1850 he married Miss Lucy Ellen Dodd. They had 9 children, Stewart, Mary Rebecca, Wm Dodd, Lucy Jane, George Washington, Nancy Ellen, Henry Pusey, Elizabeth Anna and Thomas Anthony, 5 of whom are living. His third wife was Mary E. Adkisson, whom he married May 19, 1878 and who survives him. Member of Cedar Grove Methodist Church. Buried in Cain Cemetery on Sunday.
Also buried in the Cain Cemetery are Wash Coleman's first and second wives and several children: Rachel Brown Coleman 1 Feb 1827 - 21 Aug 1850 and an infant son, John Richard 19 Mar 1850 - 23 Jun 1850; Lucy Ellen Dodd Coleman 21 Nov 1820 - 12 Dec 1877, and her infant sons, Steward 26 - 28 Jul 1851 and Thomas Anthony 3 Aug 1865 - 27 Dec 1865.
Wash was married first on 17 Oct 1845 to Rachel Brown (1 Feb 1827 - 26 Mar 1850) of Brandenburg, KY; second on 27 Oct 1850 to Lucy Ellen Dodd (21 Nov 1820 - 12 Dec 1877) of Harrison Co., IN. Lucy was the daughter of Adam Dodd and Rebecca French.
