Edith Johnson Brooking Wallingford, 81 of North Aurora, died Saturday, after a long battle with cancer at Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora, IL. She was born June 17, 1923 in Geneva, IL, and she was a member of the Geneva Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, Albert; son, Jack Brooking of St. Charles; daughter, Jill (John) Gronberg of Geneva; two grandchildren, Phillip (Violet) Gronberg of Sugar Grove and Amanda Gronberg of Aurora; a great-granddaughter, Megan Gronberg; two step-children, Wayne (Susan) Wallingford of Cape Girardeau, MO and Sheila (Richard) Smilgis of Bloomingdale, IL; her brother, Martin Johnson of Geneva; and her sisters, Toni McDermott of Quitman, GA and Elsie Lindholm of Batavia. Also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Morris Brooking; and six brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 15, 2005 at Geneva Lutheran Church, 301 South 3rd Street, Geneva. Interment will be private. There is no visitation.
