Robert Merle Hosfelt, 85 of Cambridge passed away Friday (Dec 4, 2009) at The Beckett House in New Concord. He was born April 17, 1924 in Cambridge. Mr. Hosfelt was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a firefighter for 29 years at the Cambridge Fire Department, retiring in 1982 as assistant chief. He was a member of the elks, Eagles Aerie, Moose Lodge and VFW Post 2901. He was Christian by faith. He was an avid guitar player and had played with several jazz bands. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Hosfelt and Nellie Hosfelt; his wife, Ruth Lillian Springer Hosfelt; three brothers, Jim, Joe and Pete; and a sister, Wilma. He is survived by a son, Robert Daniel Hosfelt of Florida; and two grandchildren, Michelle and Robert. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, where the services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery.
