Lifelong Newberry, Michigan, resident, Earl E. Anderson, known as "Finn" Anderson, 78, died Saturday morning September 30, 2006 at his residence with his family at his side and the care of North Woods Hospice.

Born September 6, 1928 in Newberry, son of the late Robert Anderson and Anna (Haapalainen) Anderson, Finn was a 1947 graduate of Newberry High School and attended Alma College. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge on July 24, 1952.

On May 12, 1954, he married the former Lois Nordwall in Muskegon and made Newberry their home. Finn was formerly employed as a heavy equipment operator with the Luce County Road Commission and later as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1988.

Finn was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Newberry and former member of the American Legion Post and V.F.W. Post both of Newberry. He was also a former member and past exalted ruler of the Newberry Elks Lodge. Finn was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening, reading, cooking and baking.

Beside his parents, Finn was preceded in death by his siblings Arline Fraser and Robert Anderson Jr.

Survivors included his loving wife Lois Anderson of Newberry; children Nancy Reintjes of Marquette, Lynn (Richard) Walker of Chassell, Michael "Finn" (Terese) of Newberry and Lori (Lynn) Johnson of Marquette; grandchildren Brandon (Alison) Reintjes of Helena, MT, Amanda Reintjes, Geir Finn Johnson and Jonas Karl Johnson all of Marquette.

Funeral services at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Newberry with Pastor Tom Evans officiating. Interment at Forest Home Cemetery.
