Wayne Eugene Branin, 75, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses. He was born June 17, 1934, in Syracuse, to Haysler and Thelma Polson Branine.
He grew up with his family on a farm near Coolidge. He attended Coolidge schools and graduated from Coolidge High School in 1952. On Nov. 25, 1954, he married Ann Collins in Syracuse. He worked from 1960 to 1971 as a custodian and bus driver for Coolidge schools. They later moved to Lakin in 1977, where He worked as the manager for Collingwood Grain for 23 years. He retired in 2000.

He was a member of the Lakin United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, baking, traveling and especially enjoyed his time with family.

Survivors include his wife Ann Branine; two sons, Dennis Branine of Woodward, Okla. and Ron Branine of Hays; his mother, Thelma Branine of Pueblo, Colo.; two brothers, Allen Branine of Manitou Springs, Colo., and Terry Branine of Pueblo; three sisters, Linda Wilson of Pueblo, Sue Eddy of Denver and Nikki Cooper of Scott City; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Haysler Branine, and a son, Gary Branine.

A funeral service was today at the United Methodist Church in Lakin. Burial was at the Lakin Cemetary in Lakin.
