Anna Mae (Miller) Hartzler was born April 26, 1918 in Haven; Reno County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Harvey J. and Elizabeth (Yoder) Miller. She attended Center Grade School in rural Kalona. On August 8, 1937 she was united in marriage to Orie Wenger in rural Kalona, he died September 25, 1937. On September 17, 1941 she was united in marriage to Ronald E. Hartzler in rural Kalona. They lived and farmed in the Kalona community all their married life. She was a member of the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church. Anna Mae (Miller) Hartzler, age 91, passed away on Saturday; December 12, 2009 at Parkview Manor in Wellman; Washington County, Iowa. Anna Mae is survived by three son's Clayton Wenger and wife Ethel of Sebring, Florida; Galen Hartzler of Kalona; Donald Hartzler and wife Linda of Kalona; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two sister's Bertha Wenger of Wayland and Nora Dickel of Kalona. She was preceded in death by her parent's; her husband's Orie Wenger in September of 1937 and Ronald Hartzler in November of 2007; three sister's Elsie Miller, Mattie Bontrager, Fannie Doolin; and two brother's Enos Miller and Daniel Miller. May they rest in peace. Graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the Lower Deer Creek Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. at the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. Rev. Don Patterson and Rev. Dick Swartzendruber will officiate. Visitation will be held at from 2-8 p.m. on Monday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona where the family will greet friends from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Iowa.
