Sarah Jane Dunn married Elon Campbell June 18, 1837 in Frankin County, MS. Her father was David Dunn, born about 1788, White Apple Community, MS. Sarah Dunn's date of death is an estimate--the last record found is the 1850 U.S. census, but the 1880 census seems to indicate her, at 60 years old, living withe her 31-year-old widowed son Richard. Part of the cemetery where she was buried has washed away; a search by a descendant suggested her grave site may no longer exist. Her brother is buried closer to the front, so she may have just never had a grave marker.

Jan. 11 1849 -- but Elon Campbell married Mary Strickland in Sabine Parish, LA on June 14, 1846. So, either Elon had two wives at the same time, or Richard Dunn Campbell had a different father, or the Elon Campbell who married Sarah Dunn is not the same one who married Mary Strickland. A family story suggested Elon just got up from the table and left the first wife, an indication that this is the same person. If the Sarah J. Campbell on the 1880 census is this person, she is listed there as widowed. That of course would be true, since 'Elon's other wife' Mary is listed as widowed on the 1880 census.
