Sarah Benson Stuart owned a home in Annapolis, Maryland located at 248 Prince George St. It was not colonial and not famous, but was so called for my great-grandmother Sarah Benson Stuart, the widow of Brig. General David Stuart who commanded a regiment in General Sherman's division at the Battle of Shiloh. Sarah Benson Stuart lived in a house two or three houses east of College Avenue, and diagonally across the street where I was born.
Sarah came to Annapolis to raise Philip Benson Cooper and his older brother Stuart Cooper after their mother died.
