Maggie's family moved to the Territory of Kansas fall 1860 from Indiana in search of better farm land, prior to her birth.Later about 1875 into the high country of the Territory of Colorado, ending in Hinsdale county during the peak minning days.

Maggie's marriage to the gambler James Duggan is recorded in Lake City vital records. They moved to Red Mountain City, then to Ridgway, where they established a ranch with gambling earnings. Nearby, her mother established a bordello at Portland. Due to a tragic accident, Maggie's husband broke his back and died of pneumonia at Montrose in 1908. At first, Maggie established a bordello in Montrose, but she contacted her second suitor from Lake City , Edward Healy, who had moved on to San Francisco.

She married Edward Healy in 1911, and they established their home in Long Beach, California . They had a son, John Healy. Edward also helped raise James Joseph Duggan, Maggie's son by the first marriage.

Maggie died while visiting John Healy in South Charleston, West Virginia. But her funeral (High Mass) was held in Long Beach,and she is buried in Sunnyside Cemetery.
