Joseph X. and Theresa Sprencel (nee Echtler) were both born in Germany and married in Chicago on August 4, 1856. Joseph's parents were Alvis Sprenzel (June 1, 1791-October 3, 1847) and Barbara Sprenzel (1742-1855). Theresa's parents were Johann Echtler (1775-1830) and Victoria Echtler (1788-1842). Joseph and Theresa's child, Louis Paul Sprencel (note the spelling change) was born August 6, 1863 and married Emma Noel (1871-1946) in 1890. Louis died in 1938.
