Udah Fay Combs

Udah Fay Combs, age 96, of Bolivar, passed away on Sunday June 5, 2011 at her home in Bolivar after a sudden illness.

She was born on October 22, 1914 near Arnica in Cedar County, Missouri the daughter of Robert Warfel Simrell and Iona Beulah (Kitsmiller) Simrell.

The family moved to Fair Play the day she turned 13. She graduated from Fair Play High School in 1933.

On July 7, 1934 she was united in marriage to Earnest Lee Combs and to this union one son Clifford and one daughter Lois Dean was born.

Udah Fay was saved at the age of 17. In 1934, She and Earnest were baptized and joined the Slagle Missionary Baptist Church. Later they moved their membership to the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Bolivar where she has remained a member.

In 1936, they moved to California where she worked in the Lima Bean Cannery at Saticoy, then later in the Lemon packing factory in Ventura.

They moved back to Cedar County, MO in Oct. 1940. In 1946 they moved to Polk County just south of Bolivar where she has lived until her passing.

She and Earnest were married for 67 years until his passing on April 22, 2001. Also preceding her in death were her parents, and one brother J. D. Simrell.

Udah Fay was a homemaker and loved to cook and have her children, grandchildren and friends to their home for a meal. She loved keeping her grandsons when they were small in her home during the day while their mother worked in Bolivar.

She had a large garden and canned and froze lots of fruits and vegetables.

Surviving are her children, Clifford and Dottie Combs of Warrensburg, MO; Lois D. Bouling and Tony Newcomb of Bolivar; grandsons, Kelly and Connie Bouling and Steven and Jennifer Bouling of Bolivar. Also 10 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandson.

A Visitation will be held at 12:30 PM Wednesday, June 8, 2011 with funeral services at 1:30 PM Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ron Erven and Bro. Michael Calhoun officiating. Music will be provided by Jay & Paige Stevens, Byron Shive and Morgan Stevens. Musical selections will be……… Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar.
