From the Lexington Herald-Leader dated 3 Nov 1950:

Mrs. Sallie Cardwell Murphy, 79, widow of Thomas A. Murphy, died at 1:15 p.m. yesterday at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Cecil Warner, of the Mt. Tabor road, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Murphy was born in Lawrenceburg, a daughter of the late Henry H. and Mary Griffey Cardwell. A resident of Lexington for the past 47 years, she attended the University of Kentucky after receiving her early education in Lawrenceburg schools. At one time she taught school in Woodford county. She was a member of the Ashland Avenue Baptist church, the Royal Neighbors of America and was a former member of the Eastern Star.
Beside her daughter, she is survived by sisters, Mrs. Gilbert Robinson and Mrs. J.W. Schuhart, both of Lexington; two brothers H. W. cardwell, Lexington and H.L. Cardwell, Danville; and four grandchildren.
The body was removed to the W. R. Milward mortuary chapel where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Clarence Walker and Rev. E. N. Wilkinson will officiate. Burial will be in the Lexington cemetery.
