Bernard P. Conway, 89, of Blairsville, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2005, in the Bethlen Home, Ligonier.
The son of Roy and Rose Reed Conway was born April 3, 1916, in Gallitzin. He was a member of SS. Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, where he was an usher and worked with the Angels of Compassion. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 1059.

He had been active with Meal on Wheels and the American Cancer Society and enjoyed dancing with the Mountain View Squares. Prior to retirement in 1980, he was employed by Kennametal Inc., Latrobe, for 38 years as a tool grinder.

Surviving are a son, Lisle and his wife, Sheral, of Ligonier; two daughters: Shirley R. Laskie and her husband, Dick, of Derry and Karin McKay and her husband, Tom, of Latrobe; a daughter-in-law, Michele Con-way, of Indiana; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda E. (Devinney) Conway, in 1981; a son, Bernard P. Jr., in 2002; great-grandson, Chandler Linville, in 1995 and a sister, Anna C. Ruffner.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday in SS Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, by Fr. Chester J. Raimer. Interment was in SS Simon and Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, Shoemaker Funeral Home, Blairsville, in charge.
