Funeral services for Violet NewBerry, 96, of Baytown will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 1995 at Earthman Funeral Home in Baytown with the Revs. Mark Gossett and Billy Joe Tate officiating. Burial will be at Cedarcrest Cemetery. Newberry died Nov. 7 at a local hospitAL
A resident for 74 years, she moved to Pelly in 1919. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, of T.E.L. Sunday School at Central Baptist and of Golden Years, at Central Baptist Church also.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Adam Doucet in 1933 and J.J. Newberry in 1976.
Newberry is survived by daughters and son-in-laws Beverly and Bob Garvey of Baytown, Frances Tomek of Houston, Agnes and Beano Baker of Baytown, and Martha and Cecil Sick of Houston; sons and daughters-in-law Bob and Margaret Newberry of Sand Springs, Ok. and Curtis and Patsy NewBerry of Baytown; 15 grandchildren: Kathryn Hunter, Vertis G. Tomek, C.E. Sick Jr., Randy Sick, and Steven Stewart all of Houston; Matt Baker, Kim Campbell, Dena Matheson and Susan Adrian, all of Baytown; James Baker of Texas City; Janis Campbell of Dallas, Kent Sick of Austin; Reggie Stewart of Galveston; the Rev. Ronnie Newberry of Elm Springs, AR; and Kay Watson on Ruston, La.
She is also survived by 18 great grandchildren: Denise Holmes Hunter of Belleview, Wa.; Jeff Holmes Hunter of Pullman, Wa.; Melissa Sick of Houston; Paul Michael Barrickman of Houston; Cameron Campbell, Katie Campbell, Lindsay Meadows, Josh Matheson and Brittany Matheson, all of Baytown; Jimmie Jackson, Travis Jackson, Kevin Watson and Robin Watson, all of Ruston, La.; Saundra Owen of Broken Arrow, Ok.; Christine Campbell of Bryan; Mathew Campbell of Bryan; Courtney Joy Baker of Crosby; and Airman Thomas E. Hayes of Lackenheath Air Force Base in London, England.
Also surviving are 2 great-greatgrandchildren: Kegan Adrian of Baytown and Adam Fagihy of Belleview, Wa.
The pallbearers, all grandsons, will be Vertis G. Tomek, C.E. Sick Jr., Kent Sick, Randy Sick, Matt Baker, James Baker and the Rev. Ronnie Newberry.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m.
