Mary Ann Frakes Beck
(28 November 1937 ~ 09 December 2009)
Mary Ann Beck, age 72, Joplin, passed away at 2:53 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at Freeman West Hospital.
Mary Ann was born Nov. 28, 1937, in Carl Junction, Mo., to the late Charles Eugene Frakes and Cleo Foster Frakes and had lived in the Joplin area all of her life.
A homemaker, she volunteered with the Metropolitan Little League (baseball). Her love of sports continued as she followed the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and was a big fan of Mark McGuire.
Mary Ann loved the outdoors and had a particular love for fishing on Spring River.
She loved her family and will be greatly missed.
Mary Ann married Bob Beck on June 1, 1956, in Carl Junction. He survives at the home.
Additional survivors include her children, Debra Ann Strickland, Joplin, Linda Trenary and her husband, Tim, Joplin, Rebecca LeAnn Davied, Joplin, and Ronald Lee Beck and his wife, Tina, Joplin; one sister, Anita Hicks, Carl Junction; 12 grandchildren, Brian, Darris, Casey, Brennan, Larin, Melynn, Chelsea, Shelby, Christopher, Matthew, Travis and Kody; 10 great-grandchildren; several other extended family members; and her beloved dog, Maxwell.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Tygart.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Bob Simon will officiate.
Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery.
The grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Joplin Humane Society, both in care of Parker Mortuary.
The family will be at the home of the daughter, Debra Strickland, 2607 McConnell.
