Mrs. Ruth Gable, age 77 of Jonesboro passed away January 1, 2009.

Mrs. Gable was born August 18, 1931 in Redan, Georgia. Mrs. Gable was a member of the Village Church in Hapeville. Mrs. Gable worked as a secretary for Lee's Carpet, a real estate broker for Star Properties, and in reservations for both Eastern and Delta Air Lines.

Mrs. Gable was a caring person, she took in stray animals, cooked for shut-ins, purchased gifts for children, drove friends and relatives to appointments, and even after she became ill she called to ensure her family was safe from harm and illness.

Mrs. Gable is survived by her husband of 56 years; William Gable, II of Jonesboro, one Son: William Gable, III of McDonough, one granddaughter, Jessica L. Miller of Huntsville, Al. one brother: Ray Waters and wife Dolores of Stockbridge, two sisters: Mary Harrison and husband Bill of New Orleans, La. and Vickie Martin of Houston, Tx. one brother in law: Noel Lynn Gable of Griffin.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, January, 4, 2009 at the Tara Chapel with Pastor Ray Waters officiating. The family will receive friends at the Tara Chapel on Saturday, January 3, 2009 from 1 to 3 PM. Interment will be Monday, January 5, 2009 at 10 AM in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 656 Roscoe Rd. Newnan, Georgia. Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, Tara Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
