Betty Barnes Crews died May 24, 2018. She was born September 2, 1932 to John F. and Hattie Donaho Barnes.
Betty married Jack K. Crews and had two sons, Jack and David. After graduating from Trinity University, she began her teaching career in Poteet, then Floresville, San Antonio and lastly Karnes City retiring after 31 years. Mrs. Crews was a dedicated member of the United Methodist Church of Karnes City/Kenedy and the Karnes County Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by her sons Jack Crews, Jr. and wife Leslie and David Donaho Crews, grandsons Sam, Brady and Brian Crews, and numerous nieces and nephews whom she was very proud and fond of. She was preceded in death by her husband, brother John F. Barnes, Jr. and sister Dorothy Lumbart.
Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 7 PM Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City with funeral service at 9 AM, Monday May 28, 2018, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Marcelina Cemetery in Wilson County.
Serving as pallbearers will be Leslie Barnes, Clay Pace, Mark Gotthardt, David Purser, Terry Johnson, and Randy Witte. Honorary pallbearers are Otto Hierholzer, Jim McDaniel and John Keith Baker.
Memorial contributions can be made to your favorite charity, the Marcelina Baptist Church, Floresville, Texas or the United Methodist Church, Karnes City, Texas.
