Son of Abel Hinds Seale and Sarah Ashford {Hunte} Seale of Boyce's Plantation, Saint Lucy Parish, Barbados

Sixth son (of 9) and sixth child (of 11), Benjamin Howell Seale was born March 26, 1837 and christened on May 27 of the same year. He was given the same name as Sarah and Abel's fifth son who had died the year before, within 6 days of his birth

Benjamin Howell Seale is my Great-Grandfather. He was a Planter and estate manager in Barbados. The family lived for a short while in St Thomas and St Joseph, and for a longer time at Spring Garden Estate, St Michael; their 12th through 16th children were born at Baxter's Plantation in St Andrew Parish. From about 1906 to 1913, when Ben died, the family lived at Shott Hall (then their private residence and now the Barbados Yacht Club), on Carlisle Bay, St Michael, Barbados.

Interred at Westbury Cemetery on May 19, 1913, Ben's name on the tombstone is shown only as his initials; he lieis with members of his third son's family (Matthew Archibald Seale) in 'E' section.

Benjamin's wife, my Great-Grandmother, Emily Hinds (Mayers) Seale, also rests in Westbury, although she is interred in section 'C' and does not seem to have a marker of any kind, which is curious because one of her sons was living and resident in Barbados at the time of her passing.
