Floyd Lee Penfold, 87, Passes Away

Floyd Lee Penfold, 87, Cumberland resident, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for 17 days. Mr. Penfold was born February 14, 1889 in Clinton County, the son of Alfred and Thurzy Conwell Penfold. He moved to Adams County at the age of seven with his parents and lived there until 1914. Mr. Penfold moved to a farm near Cumberland and lived there the rest of his life; except for a few years when he helped care for his parents.

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Grace Penfold of Cumberland; a nephew, Marvin Penfold of Coon Rapids; two nieces, Mrs. John Bigler of Dumont and Mrs. Stanley Embree of Corning; 10 great-nieces and nephews; and a cousin, Mrs. Walter Peterman of Atlantic. He was preceded in death by his parents in 1949; a brother, Fred V. Penfold; and a cousin, Roy Penfold, whom his parents reared in 1973.

The funeral services for Mr. Penfold, were held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, July 30, at the Grant United Methodist Church with the Rev. A. F. Schneck, officiating. Mrs. Earl Spiker was organist and musical selections were "How Great Thou Art" and "Take My Hand Precious
Lord." In charge of flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Pelzer and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Long. Casket bearers were Joel Embree, Kent Penfold, Stanford Pelzer, David Bigler, Mark Bigler, and Gary Pelzer. Burial was in the Grant Cemetery.
