Catherine A. "Kitty" Mitten Gochnauer, 96, of Kennett Square, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at the Life Care Hospitals of Chester County.

She was the wife of the late Clyde S. Gochnauer, who died in 1972 and with whom she shared 42 years of marriage.

Born in Westminster, Md., she was a daughter of the late Claude W. and Helen Boylan Mitten.

Catherine was an active member of the Kennett Area Senior Center and St. Patrick Catholic Church.

She enjoyed knitting and baking and was known for her sugar cookies, pizzelles and her beautiful afghans.

Survivors include one son, Robert Gochnauer and his wife, Elaine, of Charleston, S.C.; two daughters, Catherine Eick and her husband, Francis, of Kennett Square, and MaryAnne Fazio and her husband, Lorenzo, of Cochranville; and two sisters, Dorothy Berwager of Hanover and Helen Mueller and her husband, Joseph, of Tallahassee, Fla.. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren: Patricia Huffman and her daughter, Meredith; Robert Gochnauer Jr. and his daughter, Georgianna; Mark Gochnauer (deceased) and his son, Bradley; Larry Gochnauer and his wife, Jan, and their children, Nicholas and Christian; Robert Eick and his wife, Patricia; Theresa Eick DiSabatino and her husband, Louis, and their son, Louis; Susan Eick Woodward and her children, Matthew, Nicole, and Zachary; Andrew Fazio and his wife, Maureen, and their children, Jack and Michael; Timothy Fazio and his wife, Stacy, and their childrenAlan and Emma Grace; and John Fazio and his wife, Megan.

In addition to one grandson, she was predeceased by a sister, Laura, and a brother, Claude.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 212 Meredith St., Kennett Square.

Family and friends may visit with the family from 8 to 9:30 a.m. before the service at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home Inc., 250 W. State St., Kennett Square, 610-444-4116.

Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.

Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Patrick Church, 205 Lafayette St., Kennett Square, PA 19348.
